There is nothing better than a homemade donut made from scratch, move-over biscuits; today, I am giving you a delicious and straightforward Air Fryer Copycat Krispy Kreme Donuts recipe.
If you were looking for something delicious, easy, and healthy (sort of ish), then this recipe is made with Greek Yogurt and Self Rising Flour; this is so much better than the homemade Weight Watcher Bagels we have been talking about.
I love a great batch of fresh donuts, but always I’m not particularly eager to wait for them to rise. I mean, who has time for that. You will get the same fantastic flavor, but without waiting.
Air Fryer Donuts
There is nothing like a warm donut drizzled with homemade icing or coated with ground cinnamon and sugar. This is the perfect start to any morning.
While I have made many donuts (including Air Fryer Biscuits Donuts), Air Fryer Homemade Donuts With Yeast, are some of my favorites since you do not have to wait for the dough to rise.
This makes for a quick and delicious homemade glazed donut. Same rich taste as a Krispy Kreme Donut, but without the need to wait for the dough to rise.
Why This Recipe Works:
The most important thing for my recipes and all of the recipes at Fork To Spoon is that they work.
When I cook, I have two key phrases: are they delicious, and are they easy? If they are, they make it on Fork To Spoon. After all, I am a real mom cooking for a real family.
Some Common Questions Asked About Making Homemade Air Fryer Donuts
How To Cut Homemade Donuts
If you have never made homemade donuts before, do not worry; the best thing to do is roll out the dough on a floured surface using your rolling pin.
You are looking to roll the dough out so it’s about 1/2 inch thick. Use your biscuit or cookie cutters to make the larger circle, and use a smaller biscuit cutter to make the inner circle.
How To Shape Donuts Without Donut/Biscuit Cutter
Do not fret if you do not have any biscuits or donut cutters; you can use a glass and a bottle cap (for the inner part).
The key is to make both circles larger than the other one. So the outer ring is larger than the inner ring so that it reassembles a donut.
How To Make Donut Holes
Since you will end up with the inner circles, and probably some leftover dough.
You can either cut more out and have many donut holes or roll them into balls to resemble donut holes.
The cook time will be the same as regular-sized donuts.
How To Make Donut Glaze
I have been making donut glaze or icing since I was a small child. The key my mother always gave me is that you want it the same consistency as glue.
Since most people can understand that, that is a non-technical term, but it will get you the perfect homemade glaze/icing every single time.
The ingredients are always the same in any homemade icing recipe, powdered sugar, milk, and pure vanilla extract. Sometimes if you need to thin it out, you can add some water.
I would advise you to dip the donuts since they will cover them better than trying to drizzle them on the donuts. Just use a shallow dish.
How Long Are Air Fryer Donuts Good For?
The truth is that all donuts taste better when fresh out of the air fryer or oven. There is nothing better than a hot donut. This is why Krispy Kreme Donuts are so good.
So, make as many as you want to eat in one sitting. This recipe is not that complicated, and unlike the yeast donut recipe, you do not have to wait hours for the dough to rise.
If you do have any leftovers, place them into an air-tight container. Then place the container on the counter.
When you are ready to eat them, pop them into the microwave for a couple of seconds, or place them back into the air fryer for about a minute. They will crisp up. You may want to make some fresh icing and re-dip them since most of the icing will be running off due to the heat.
