- The cooking time may be adjusted. Every air fryer is slightly different and cooking times can vary. Test the potatoes with a fork or knife to ensure they are done before serving.
What Potatoes Are Best For Air Frying?
I like Russet; they tend to hold their shape during air frying and taste good. They make a great baked potato in the air fryer.
How Do I Prepare Potatoes For Air Frying?
The key to prepping potatoes is to wash the potatoes. I highly recommend getting a brush for cleaning your potatoes. You would be surprised how much dirt you can get off the potatoes.
But, after you scrub the potatoes, dry them off. Excess water can prevent the skin from getting crispy, so let them air dry or dry with a soft cloth.
Use a fork or knife to poke holes into the potatoes. This will allow heat to get inside of the potato so they cook evenly and won’t explode! Now you are ready to air fry baked potatoes.
How do you know when a Baked Potato is done?
The skin will be crispy and golden brown on the outside. If you poke the inside with a fork, it should feel soft, not too squishy, or too firm. And if you cut into it, the center of the potato should have a light yellow color without any dark spots or wet spots from excess moisture escaping through cracks in the skin.
Do I have To Poke Holes in my Potatoes Before Air Frying?
Yes. If you don’t, you run the risk of the potatoes exploding. To solve this, I use my fork tines and poke a couple of holes.
