Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the egg, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Shape and Cook the Bombs:
For Frying:
- Roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness and cut circles using a round cutter.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and let cool.
For Air Fryer:
- Roll out and cut dough as above.
- Place in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Let cool before filling.
3. Prepare the Filling:
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Slice the doughnuts in half.
- Spread pastry cream (if using) on the bottom half, add strawberries, then pipe whipped cream.
- Top with the other half and dust with powdered sugar.
