Instructions

 

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the egg, melted butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
  4. Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Shape and Cook the Bombs:

For Frying:

  1. Roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness and cut circles using a round cutter.
  2. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry doughnuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Drain on paper towels and let cool.

For Air Fryer:

  1. Roll out and cut dough as above.
  2. Place in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. Let cool before filling.

3. Prepare the Filling:

  1. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  2. Slice the doughnuts in half.
  3. Spread pastry cream (if using) on the bottom half, add strawberries, then pipe whipped cream.
  4. Top with the other half and dust with powdered sugar.
