Step 1: Prepare the Hamburger Steaks
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Form into four equal-sized patties.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F).
- Brush patties with olive oil and place in the air fryer basket.
- Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
Step 2: Make the Onion Gravy
- In a pan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until golden.
- Pour in beef broth and add thyme.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and let the gravy thicken.
- Simmer for 3–5 minutes, then season to taste.
Step 3: Smother & Serve
- Place cooked hamburger steaks in the gravy and let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
