Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine peaches, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until coated.
- Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Make the Topping
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in melted butter, milk, and vanilla until just combined.
- Spoon the batter over the peaches and spread evenly.
Step 3: Bake
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 4: Serve
- Let cool slightly, then serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
