Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease or line an 8×8-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients
- Make three wells in the dry mix. Pour vanilla into one, vinegar into another, and oil into the third.
- Pour water over everything and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 3: Bake
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar or serve as is.
