Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease or line an 8×8-inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients
  1. Make three wells in the dry mix. Pour vanilla into one, vinegar into another, and oil into the third.
  2. Pour water over everything and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 3: Bake
  1. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cool in the pan before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar or serve as is.
