Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, mix the pork, beef, onion, pepper, mace, and salt until well combined.
Step 2: Make the Pastry
- In a saucepan, heat the water and lard until melted and hot. Remove from heat.
- Pour into the flour and stir to form a dough. Knead until smooth but work quickly while warm.
Step 3: Shape and Fill
- Roll out two-thirds of the dough and line a greased mini loaf tin or deep ramekin.
- Fill with the meat mixture, pressing down gently.
- Roll out the remaining dough for the lid. Brush edges with beaten egg and seal. Cut a small vent hole in the center.
Step 4: Air Fry
- Preheat air fryer to 170°C (340°F). Brush pie top with egg wash.
- Place pie in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and meat is fully cooked.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
