Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Filling
  1. In a bowl, mix the pork, beef, onion, pepper, mace, and salt until well combined.
Step 2: Make the Pastry
  1. In a saucepan, heat the water and lard until melted and hot. Remove from heat.
  2. Pour into the flour and stir to form a dough. Knead until smooth but work quickly while warm.
Step 3: Shape and Fill
  1. Roll out two-thirds of the dough and line a greased mini loaf tin or deep ramekin.
  2. Fill with the meat mixture, pressing down gently.
  3. Roll out the remaining dough for the lid. Brush edges with beaten egg and seal. Cut a small vent hole in the center.
Step 4: Air Fry
  1. Preheat air fryer to 170°C (340°F). Brush pie top with egg wash.
  2. Place pie in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and meat is fully cooked.
  3. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
