Step 1: Prep the Oven & Pan
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a muffin tin with paper liners or spray generously with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
Step 3: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk cocoa powder and melted butter until smooth.
- Add milk, eggs, and vanilla essence, whisking until the mixture is glossy and well combined.
Step 4: Combine & Fold
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined (do not overmix).
- Fold in the chocolate chips for an extra burst of chocolatey goodness.
Step 5: Bake
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 6: Cool & Serve
- Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy warm or at room temperature with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
