AIR FRYER IRISH SODA BREAD

Advertising

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I thought, why not? Last year we had a bread shortage in Philadelphia, and I never made this recipe. Today, I headed to the supermarket and gathered all of the ingredients for this delicious Air Fryer Irish Soda Bread.

It is easy and it is fabulous!

Irish Soda Bread
If you have never had Irish Soda bread, it’s a quick bread that does not contain any yeast but rather uses baking soda. It air fries up really quickly, and it is so easy to make. With a few mixes, with either your electric mixer or a spatula, this bread comes together very quickly.

If you have never eaten a piece of soda bread, it tastes slightly different than white sandwich bread; it reminds me of biscuits. This is why the Irish Soda Bread is served with butter, jelly, or preserves most of the time.

The soda bread texture is also slightly different from regular bread as it is a rather dense bread. The outside gets perfectly crushed out with the air fryer, while the inside stays tender.

Some Pro Tips Of Making Air Fryer Irish Soda Bread-

  • Do not overwork the dough; it will be a bit rough. It’s a quick bread rather than a refined bread.
  • Always make an X through the dough, which will help the dough bake up perfectly.
  • Remember to grease the air fryer basket; otherwise, your dough will stick.

Recipe For Buttermilk
This recipe has relatively few ingredients, one of them being buttermilk; if you do not keep buttermilk at your house, then make your own.

To make a batch of buttermilk for this recipe, or any recipe, here is my foolproof method:

  • 1 cup milk (any milk)
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

Add the two ingredients to a small bowl, then mix them and let them sit for about 5 minutes. It will curdle, so do not be alarmed. It will give the same flavor and texture as using real buttermilk in your recipe.
